Corporate Transparency Act: Recent Developments

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in the case of Texas Top Cop Shop, Inc., et al. v. Garland, et al., No. 4:24-cv-00478 (E.D. Tex.), a federal district court in the Eastern District of Texas, issued an order granting a nationwide preliminary injunction that enjoins enforcement of the CTA and its reporting requirements and stays all deadlines.  The Department of the Treasury has appealed.  Until the situation is clarified, reporting is voluntary; however, if the injunction is lifted, deadlines may return very quickly.  As a result, it is possible that an entity could quickly become noncompliant.  Please contact our firm for additional information.
